What to Know Before You Buy Dominant Violin Strings
There are many choices of violin strings available on the market and choosing one can be difficult. Thomastik-Infeld is a string-maker founded by Franz Thomastik and Otto Infeld in 1919. They were the original creators of the steel-core string, which gave musicians a new option rather than gut strings.
Until about 1970, these two options were the only ones available to violinists. Then, Thomastik-Infeld revolutionized the industry by creating synthetic strings. These synthetic strings have had time to become accepted by the music industry and have even surpassed their predecessors in terms of popularity. There are some differences that you must recognize before you buy as they will influence how your instrument plays.
Dominant is one of the most popular string brands on the market and they are constructed from a type of nylon called perlon.
